Riding a bike is the only thing Fred Kyrillos can imagine himself doing for a living. His punk rock looks hint at the Brazilian's laid-back personality but the Sao Paulo native is very much his own businessman, owning a full FMX crew that tours the country with friends, visiting numerous locations for events, shows and filming sessions.
"In 2001 I began to look at FMX from a professional standpoint, and as one of the early freestyle riders in Brazil I've been able to see the sport develop from up close. It's grown a lot, to the point that making a living out of it is possible now, but I think it's only just beginning. Red Bull X-Fighters Rio will change the sport's whole picture in this country."
But the business side is obviously not the only aspect that makes Fred passionate about the sport.
"The way FMX develops at a lightning pace is amazing. It's one of the things that motivates me to wake up every morning and go practice, this knowledge that I'm getting a tiny bit better every day." Fred won the Brazilian Championships twice and has been around with the Nitro Circus gang. Where he has managed to dial in all the hard backflip combos required to impress fans around the world.
We can't wait to see the Brazilian FMX flavor on show in Las Ventas!
