Aussie Attack at Greek Qualifying

Josh Sheehan - 360° at Greek Qualifying
Defending Tour Champ Sheehan Doubleflips to the top

Josh Sheehan got his season back on track after missing the season opener in Mexico and beat fellow Australian Clinton Moore in an exciting showdown in the Qualifying ahead of the Red Bull X-Fighters main event on Friday in Athens.

A brilliant second run by the 2014 World Tour winner Josh Sheehan saw him barely edge out the winner of the first leg in Mexico, longtime FMX rider Clinton Moore, for the top spot in Qualifying on Thursday. The twelve riders battled for the top position ahead of the most challenging Red Bull X-Fighters competition on the freestyle motocross calendar on a track set up in the Dionyssos Marble Quarry.

"I'm so stoked," said Sheehan, "Getting the double flip and all of my combos done takes the weight of my shoulders."

Sheehan rose to the challenge delivering his trademark double flip and was rewarded by the judges with the top score – followed closely by Moore currently in second place. Aussie Rob Adelberg came in third after a strong second round.

Moore, who gained momentum after winning his first ever stop in Mexico City, threw down the gauntlet and piled the pressure on Josh Sheehan, with a polished first Qualifying run close ahead of Rob Adelberg.

Favorites Levi Sherwood of New Zealand and Frenchman Tom Pagès struggled on the white marble track. After Sherwood fell of his bike in the first run, he ended up in disappointing 7th position. Tom Pagès crashed his bike a total of three times during Qualifying, twice because he was determined to accomplish the Alley Hoop Flair. The pressure is on Pagès to win Round One or he will go out fast in tomorrow's Finals.
